HP’s Customer Welcome Center

A product showcase for today’s hybrid lifestyle

Role: Experience Designer

Driven by the promise of delivering experiences that amaze, Hewlett Packard (HP) sought to transform their Customer Welcome Center (CWC) at the Palo Alto facility. Recognizing the need for a human-centric spatial design that forefronts guests behaviors, Propelland brought us in to help reimagine the space in a way that fluidly integrates virtual and physical elements, thereby contextualizing HP’s products and services within a customers’ environment.

Bold

Spatially echo HP's distinct brand weaved into graphic vignettes. Leverage the spectrum if HP’s brand colors.

We proposed an organizational strategy built around a hybrid lifestyle, moving guests through a ‘day in the life’ story encountering products embedded in everyday environments. Applying HP’s brand colors to three color blocked spaces created a shareable-photo worthy experience.

Primary deliverables:

- Concept & layout
- Material guidelines
- 3D modeling, rendering & assets
- Elevation mark ups
- Set of optional activations

Memorable

Design that inspires shareable social media moments to promote the company’s offerings. Create new HP advocates.

Objectives

Ultimately, the goal was to transition from a product-focused showcase to a fully consumer-centric experience. HP’s vision was an innovative demo experience that not only highlights their products and services but also better communicates their brand promise. The new space should accommodate tour groups; anywhere from 3 to ~15 with flexible entry/exit points.

Experience Principles

Simple

Clean spaces that let HP products take center stage. Organized through a seamless and coherent experience.

The Impact

The revamped Customer Welcome Center is a groundbreaking space–communicating the company’s brand promise, offering experiences that amaze, engage, inspire, and establish trust. It effectively portrays a typical day in the life of any person, demonstrating how HP’s products enhance creativity and productivity.

The center leverages immersive storytelling and multi-sensory experiences to leave lasting impressions, showcasing products optimized for hybrid environments and emphasizing HP’s seamless technology and services. Featuring eight distinct areas, including a multipurpose space, living room, cafe, terminals, co-working space, conference room, and executive suite, the center stands as a testament to HP’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric design. Hewlett-Packard hosted its first-ever HP Imagine event at the new reinvented Palo Alto HP’s Customer Welcome Center in 2023.
